So What You Took A Knee

This past weekend we witness a large portion of the NFL react to Donald Trump’s statement which he indicates any player who kneels during the National Anthem should be fired. The media and the public have praised many of the players and owners for opposing Trump and taking a knee or showing so another form of gesture during the anthem. I respect the unity and the heart to stand against the Donald Trump but part of me is disappointed.

The reason why I am somewhat disappointed is the fact that the reason Colin Kaepernick started sitting and then kneeling during the national anthem was to protest police brutality and the injustice towards black people. The fact that INNOCENT black people being slaughtered in the streets by the police and receiving no justice for these atrocities was not a good reason to take a knee. Some have only taken a knee because Trump called the league out and threaten their livelihood. Now the media is talking about every team who performed some gesture but NO ONE is talking about the injustice that started Colin on this crusade. The murder of Tamar Rice, Alton Sterling, Philando Castiel, or Freddy Gray wasn’t good enough to stand up against the system but an empty threat was the catalyst for your resistance. During all this kneeling we find out the T-Boz, of TLC, a relative was murdered by the police and this instance was barely reported. If not for T-Boz we may not have heard about this killing.

So what you took a knee, the reason for the knee as not been addressed and we are still be murdered by the people sworn to protect us. For all the black NFL players who did not want knee before the Donald Trump statement, you do not have to take a knee but you should donate money to the fight. There are many street-level organizations fighting the good fight you can donate too. There is no excuse for failing your people if you do not want to use your voice then use your wallet.

The Justice System of Injustice

Is the Justice System a system of injustice for black people in America? The introduce of camera phones, video surveillance, and the internet made it possible for the world to see what is happening in an ordinary person’s daily life. There are people who have become famous and garnered wealth solely from the use of these technologies. These technologies have also allowed the world to witness some of the horrors black people experience on a daily. Many people believed with these atrocities being caught on video black people would receive some form of justice. Are the scales of justice being tipped and is being tipped against the interest of black people?

The most recent event of injustice is the case involving the death of Anthony Lamar Smith. Mr. Smith was murdered by a police officer, the officer was heard on tape stating he was going to kill Mr. Smith during the car chase to apprehend Mr. Smith, after shooting Mr. Smith five times the officer is seen on videotape retrieving an object from his police car and returning to the victim’s car. Afterward the officer states he found a weapon in the car but the weapon did not have any DNA of the victim, the weapon only had the officer’s DNA. The officer did not follow police protocol throughout the whole ordeal, but the officer was still acquitted with all the video and voice recorded evidence proving this was a premeditated murder.

There are been several examples like this incident, too many to name, we constantly listen to politicians, religious leaders, and community leaders who tell the public be patient, believe in the justice system, and pray. So far no of these things have been fruitful and the justice system has been the biggest letdown. We have seen so many of our innocent people go to jail on less or fabricated evidence, so how can visual proof go ignored.

I do not have the answer to any questions that arise from this subject but I know nothing is fair in love and war. If you ask me we are at war. We must understand justice will not come from a system of injustice.

Please excuse any grammatical errors emotions are running high.

Green Does Not Cover Up Black

By now everyone has heard about or seen the video involving Seattle Seahawk player Michael Bennett. The video shows Bennett being detained by the police when he has not committed any crime, the only thing he is guilty of is being black. Bennett describes how he was forced to the ground, had a gun pointed at his head, and threaten if he did not follow the police orders.

One of the arguments presented against Colin Kaepernick when he was protesting was that as a rich, famous athlete he is subject to this type of behavior from law enforcement. The arguments were basically why do you care it will never happen to you. With this incident involving Michael Bennett that argument is thrown in the garbage where it should have been from the beginning.

All these recent incidents with police killing black people, the police brutalizing minorities and wrongfully arresting minorities are not something new. The masses like to believe these incidents are outliers but in the black community, we know these are everyday occurrences. The videos are just allowing the world see a small snippet of what we go through in America. Even with these videos there has still been no justice for the victims. What people have to realize the amount of incidents that are not caught on camera and the number of years we have been experiencing these atrocities.  There are numerous organizations such as the Innocence Project who have been getting wrongfully convicted people out of jail. Wrongfully convicting someone is police brutality. Shaun King has written these wonderful article exposing a corrupt police precinct in the Bronx.

Also when we talk about the police shooting there are individuals who like to bring up black on black crime. First, the black people who commit these crimes against other black people are criminals, so to equate police shooting to black on black crime you have to admit the police who commit these killings are criminals. Therefore the police who shoot unarmed citizens are criminals and should be treated as such.

No matter how rich or famous one becomes they will not be able to avoid the black experience if he or she is black. Michael Bennett happens to be one of the professional athletes who uses his fame to speak out on these issues, I believe this experience will be additional motivation for him. And Mr. Bennett I am ready to fight with you.

Is Universal Basic Income the Answer or A Birth of New Problems?

Universal pay or universal basic income is a system where a country government pays the citizen a determined amount of income each month. The reason for this is based on the loss of jobs due to automation. There are several well-known and inventive thinkers who believe that America is headed in this direction. Individuals such as Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and Mark Zuckerberg creator of Facebook believe eventually the United States will implement universal pay. Based on the advancement in artificial intelligence, the automation of several assembly lines, and the ever-growing use of the internet. Many of the factory, servant, and blue-collar jobs will no longer exist. We already see that there is push for more people to develop technology based skills. It was not too long ago that people who worked in factories could live middle-class or almost middle-class lives. These jobs are quickly evaporating. A study by the University of Oxford estimates that 47% of U.S jobs could be replaced by robots in 10 to 20 years.

The automobile industry and the trucking industry have already started the process of implementing computer operated vehicles. Their claim is that computer operated vehicle reduces accidents, reduces traffic, save on fuel and time. If this is employed on a large scale what happens to the truck drivers and cab drivers? Remember truck driver and cab drivers earn a decent salary, it is enough for them to provide for their families. If unemployed how does a truck drivers skills transfer into another growing industry? I just heard someone mention that Amazon is one the leading companies to increase employment but for every job that Amazon creates three jobs have been lost. Based on these trends and facts the government may have no choice but to utilize a universal payment system.

After all, you are asking how does this affect me. First, for the universal pay system to work the wealthiest Americans will have to contribute. Rich people love money and their goal is to accumulate as much wealth as possible even if they have no use for all this wealth. They will want to reduce the number of recipients of the universal payment system. Let’s think how do you reduce the number of recipients? You must decrease the population and/or deem people ineligible for the pay. The government may institute a Muslim ban, which will decrease the number of people coming to American and becoming citizens. The government may address the illegal immigrant problem because a child of an illegal born on American soil would be eligible for payment. You could incite a race war, this would eliminate a section of recipients because there would be many casualties. In addition, to the casualties, those convicted of a crime would be ineligible for universal payment. Does any of this sound familiar?

I do not have any proof of the government taking these action against its citizens and I am not sure America will adopt a universal payment system but I would put anything past them. I would even call my point of view on this subject a theory, all I am saying now is not the time to sleep. We are not in the know the people who control the world have information that we will never be aware of. History has shown that while we are being distracted other things are happening to shape the world, now there is distraction every day.

Sore Losers

What does the statue symbolize? All this anger surrounding the removal of some statues is amazing to me. Do these people realize a woman has lost her life because a person became insanely upset over a statue? How many of them actually knew who Robert E. Lee was before it was decided to remove his statue? Did you celebrate Robert E. Lee’s accomplishments? Did Robert E. Lee have a positive effect on America?

These statues and flags are symbols of hate and separation, so why are they so important to these people? All these symbols that they idolize are symbols of losers. Why do people who believe that they are superior and they are the superior race choose symbols that reflect inferior, sadistic individuals? Well, maybe they are attracted to the sadistic aspect of the individuals. These people carry the Nazi flag but Germans do not idolize Nazism. Hitler is regarded as one of the evilest men to walk the face of the earth and this is the person you choose to align yourself with? I believe this questions their humanity and civility. Ironically, in my opinion, most of these people who are in support of these statues and other symbols of hate are cowards. I remember growing up the Neo-Nazis and Skin Heads being vicious people who were willing to kill and die for what they believe in. These new alt-right people appear to be cowards, many of them crying about getting arrested and claiming to be law-abiding citizens when approached by authorities. I think many of them join these groups to be a part of something because they believe there is no other place in America for them. That’s maybe the reason they idolize Robert E. Lee because instead of dying on the battlefield he surrenders like a coward.

If all your symbols are losers does that mean you are destined to lose? The world is comprised of people of color, so instead of trying to kill us and keep us oppressed, they should give it up because they are outnumbered. Hopefully, the day will come when they realize black people are not their enemy.

The Obama Effect: Race in America

With the election of Barack Obama, it was thought that America has made advances on race but are we absolutely sure that country has made advances? Has the election of Obama created more hate groups or White Supremacist Groups? Has the election of Obama created more racial tension in America? I ask these question because after the events that have taken place in Charlottesville Virginia this weekend it seems like there have not been any advancements. As many have stated in was reminiscent of the 60’s.

Obama won the popular vote during each election based on these results this meant that the majority of the country saw past race and voted for whom they believed was the best candidate. The election of Obama was a historical event, I think many people thought this was a huge advancement in race relations in this country but it seems that a small of a fraction of the country was not pleased by this. I do not have statistical data or historical data to back my opinion but it appears to me that the racial tension has escalated with the election of Obama. The killings of unarmed black people seem to have increased but one can argue these killings have always taken place and the introduction of social media has just made us more aware of these incidents. It seems the number of hate groups, Neo-Nazi, White Supremacist and Alt-Right organization have increased or have become more visible since Obama’s election. The election of Donald Trump has also fueled many of these groups, they believe they have an ally in Trump. Trump cabinets would suggest that they do have an ally, his remarks regarding the tragedy in Charlottesville suggest they have an ally. Regardless of who is aligned with whom we must be prepared for whatever is coming.

We all thought the election of Barack Obama meant the pendulum of racism had swung to the side of righteous, equality, and love of all mankind now it seems that the pendulum has swung back to the side of evil, hate, and inhumane thinking. Will the pendulum swing back or are we stuck in evil and hate? If we are stuck will this be the end of America?

Heroes Can’t Stand Alone

Colin Kaepernick is still without an NFL job, the people who are against Kap are reciting his stats trying to implicate it is his play for the reason that he is not in the league. Even if his play has diminished recently he is still admittedly better than half of the quarterbacks currently in the league. As a result of his unemployment, there are some leaders in the community call for a boycott of the NFL.

Rev. K.W. Tulloss, the western regional director of the National Action Network, has organized a protest to take place in the state of California with the first one taking place outside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on August 12th.  It is my opinion these protests need to take place in each NFL city. People of color should not only protest at the stadium but we should not watch the games, go to bars to watch games, no football pools, no betting on games, no Fan Duel or Draft Kings. The owners claim the fans and ticket holders do not want Kap playing, therefore, we have to make them respect the ones who believe he should be playing. The next step after this would be to boycott NFL sponsors.  All NFL players who are African-American and those who support this fight should not play one game collectively. Just imagine one Sunday there is no one of color playing football, they would have to cancel the game. I know this maybe far fetched but there has to be a point where we operate in unison.

One other thing regarding this issue is the false narrative that Kap is disrespecting the veterans. One he never said anything disparaging about veterans, and what about veterans who are related to these victims, what about the veterans who have had a negative experience with the police. This argument is ridiculous because if he was protesting another issue would there be any outrage? Remember the WNBA players were not allowed to wear Black Lives Matter shirts but they were encouraged to wear shirts in support of the Orlando shooting victims. So we can see professional sports does not have a problem with athletes bringing attention to issues that do not directly concern people of color.

People have to understand this is bigger than Colin Kaepernick if they are allowed to silence him all athletes will be silenced. This is laying the ground work for individuals to lose employment based on their opinions about society’s mistreatment of a particular group of people. As a people how could you live with yourself if you do not stand for a man who put everything on the line for you? People will say he is not a hero or his action was not heroic but history tells us differently. People will deem someone a hero for what he or she does on the field or court but the real heroism takes place off the field or court.
