Wake UP!!!! They Don’t Love You

The trending news is Donald Trump’s comments about Haitians and people from the continent of Africa migrating to America. His criticism of the state of these countries is harsh, some will argue that these countries are in the state he used to describe them, but they will not admit the cause or the reason these countries are in the state is that of European influence. To argue with them about this is futile because facts do not matter to racist.

My point of view on this topic is why are people surprised, the only people who should be surprised are those white people who do not believe they practice racism and do not realize white privilege exists. All people of color should not be surprised by these comments. A Fox News commentator, I do not remember his name, he said, and I am paraphrasing “this how people talk when sitting in a bar.” He is telling Black people this is how we talk about you behind your back. Trump denied using those words 15 hours after the statements were reported, he tweets about other dumb shit but nothing about these comments. This tells you he did not want to deny making these statements and he believes he was correct in using this descriptive language, someone had to convince him to tweet something about the reported story. Have you noticed the individuals in the room have said anything about the comments? The Senators could have said, “That language was not used, and I would not tolerate that language being used in my presence.” Instead of doing that we get silence which indicates the comments reported where the exact statements he made.

All people of color must realize the direction of the country has changed, White people clearly understand that within the next 25 to 50 years they will be the minority in this country and this scares some of them. The problem is many people of color want to be white, but it is coming closer to the point will the line will be drawn, and people of color will have to choose which side of that line they want to be on. I am one who believes there are some good white people who are sensitive to our situation and want to help. The problem is they may be the minority, but this too seems to be changing with more and more realizing racism is hurting this country.

The racists are no longer hiding underneath sheets, this President has emboldened the racist which may be a good thing because it will force Black people to wake up.

You Are Black First

BLACK MAN

BLACK WOMAN

BLACK LAWYER

BLACK DOCTOR

BLACK TAXI DRIVER

BLACK TEACHER

Today there seem to be more people woke, and there is a need for more people to wake up. Racial tensions are high around the world but especially in America. At some point, this heighten racial climate will come to ahead, but I believe the black community will not be ready when the racial divide comes to the end of the road. The end of the road maybe peaceful existences or a race war, the black community may not survive either scenario because we are so busy fighting amongst ourselves.

The reason I have this list at the beginning of this post is that there is one similar thing that is the word “black”. People must understand however you are described, or you describe yourself black or African -American precede everything else. When you walk in a room the first thing that comes to people mind; consciously or subconsciously; is your blackness. If you are a doctor and you walk into the room to examine your patient the first thing that crosses the patient’s mind is, you are a black doctor. You notice if your waiter is black, your nurse, the valet, the theater usher and so on. My point to is that being black is the common denominator and the primary factor, therefore, our blackness should be the primary subject, focus or key to our resurgence. On social media, I see an abundance of black women blaming black men and vice a versa. You have straight black men and women lashing out against black gay men and women. All these issues that exist in the black community can be settled once we arrive at the end of the racial divide, we are about 14% of the population in America that means there is 86% of the population that may not have our interest in the forefront of their life agendas. With us at war against each other, we are decreasing that 14% even further. We are clearly outnumbered, there will be traders, but we must be unified and not divided based on religious beliefs or skin tone. The people who wish to keep black people oppress relish in the fact that we are fighting amongst each other and implement things to ensure we keep fighting amongst each other. Everyone knows about the Willie Lynch letter, but we are active participants in his theory and ensuring that it becomes a fact.

It is my belief that once the black community separates ourselves from the oppressor or we co-exist as equals most of the issues we fight amongst ourselves over will no longer be an issue. If these issues do still exist at that point we can deal with them then but first we must deal with the primary issue, the unfair treatment of all black people.

The [Meek] Shall Inherit the Earth or The Earth May Engulf the [Meek]?

How come we must pick sides? Remember the Martin Luther King Jr. quote “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” The reason why I ask this question and reference this quote is that people have been taking sides regarding the Meek Mill situation.

Meek Mill has been sentenced to a prison term of two to four years for probation violation. There are people on all sides of this topic, many people believe he deserves it for violating the conditions of his probations. There are people upset because some celebrities have come to Meek’s defensive, these people believe their others in the prison system who need the help of these celebrities. There are those people who view this as a mistreatment by the justice system. I personally believe in the latter, this is an abusive system of justice. I offer this to the people who believe Meek is getting what he deserves and to those who are concerned about others in similar or worse situations. If they can do this to an individual who has some success, notoriety, means and minor wealth; what will stop them from doing this to all of us. Instead of complaining about him receiving this attention because he is a celebrity we need to use this moment to point out other situation that displays a miscarriage of justice. People past judgment on the Meek Mill situation without learning what really happened, people rely on the media and the media has proven over time that is not on our side. The media only reports the truth when they are forced to report the truth. The judge indicated he violated his terms of probation by leaving the state without permission, police contact from a fight in the airport, and police contact for riding an unauthorized vehicle in the streets of New York. The charge of leaving the state without permission charge, Meek Mill’s people notified the judge of his travel request and she signed off on the request. The judge later denied giving permission. The fight in the airport, after farther investigation it was determined that Meek was trying to prevent the fight and the charges were dismissed. Riding the unauthorized vehicle incident happened while he was shooting a video, the police were present the entire time, and he was not arrested for this infraction until the next day.

I understand people need to be punished for their mistakes, but the punishment must fit the crime. I ask our people to do one thing instead of looking at all the negative things people like Meek does look at the positive things they do. The media will always highlight the negative, but they will never report on all the charity work he may do, the people he may employ and the lives he may save. Look at the situation regarding Senatorial candidate Roy Moore people are coming to his defense and he is accused of, in my opinion, one of the most heinous crimes a person can commit. As Black people, we have many problems, us fighting amongst ourselves should not be one of them. Any issue regarding a Black person should be dealt with among Black people, the media or no outside forces should influence our decision about another Black person. Remember the injustice you allow to happen to one person, you may one day become a victim of the same injustice.

White Out: The Whiting of the World

After having a conversation with some youths, I determined that they were under the impression that much of the world is Caucasians. The lead me to wonder how did this mindset come to be? Do other people in different parts of the world believe the same thing? Do other people in different parts of the world believe that being white is superior?

With regards, the young men I was speaking with I can understand why they thought the much of the world’s population are Caucasians. Most of the people they see on TV, in schools and in positions of authority are Caucasians. I then remembered watching a video interview with a Reggaetón rapper Tego Calderone, in this interview he talked about being discriminated against because he has darker skin and appears to black instead of looking more like would some people would envision Puerto Ricans resemble. This led me down a different path of thinking, I began wondering how someone could discriminate against someone who has the same culture, speaks the same language, and they live their entire life on the same island. I may be naïve on somethings but for me, I understood the discrimination here in the United States because black people and white people are different culturally, the institution of slavery, the disparity of laws towards black Americans, and the economic benefits to discrimination. With Tego the only difference is the tone of their skin.

Before I go on I must admit I am not as well versed on world history as others, but I have not read or heard of any other time in history before slavery in America where discrimination based on skin color was prevalent. I may be wrong if so please inform me. If I am right, has racism and discrimination in America infected the rest of the world? I started to recall stories that I have read and heard where people of darker skin being treated differently around the world, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. If so, I find this fascinating that a small percentage of the world’s population have convinced the rest of the world that is better to be white.

I hope I am wrong on all my assertions. If I am right this means white people do not have to discriminate against black people we will do it to each other. Racism is on auto-pilot!!!!

So What You Took A Knee

This past weekend we witness a large portion of the NFL react to Donald Trump’s statement which he indicates any player who kneels during the National Anthem should be fired. The media and the public have praised many of the players and owners for opposing Trump and taking a knee or showing so another form of gesture during the anthem. I respect the unity and the heart to stand against the Donald Trump but part of me is disappointed.

The reason why I am somewhat disappointed is the fact that the reason Colin Kaepernick started sitting and then kneeling during the national anthem was to protest police brutality and the injustice towards black people. The fact that INNOCENT black people being slaughtered in the streets by the police and receiving no justice for these atrocities was not a good reason to take a knee. Some have only taken a knee because Trump called the league out and threaten their livelihood. Now the media is talking about every team who performed some gesture but NO ONE is talking about the injustice that started Colin on this crusade. The murder of Tamar Rice, Alton Sterling, Philando Castiel, or Freddy Gray wasn’t good enough to stand up against the system but an empty threat was the catalyst for your resistance. During all this kneeling we find out the T-Boz, of TLC, a relative was murdered by the police and this instance was barely reported. If not for T-Boz we may not have heard about this killing.

So what you took a knee, the reason for the knee as not been addressed and we are still be murdered by the people sworn to protect us. For all the black NFL players who did not want knee before the Donald Trump statement, you do not have to take a knee but you should donate money to the fight. There are many street-level organizations fighting the good fight you can donate too. There is no excuse for failing your people if you do not want to use your voice then use your wallet.

The Justice System of Injustice

Is the Justice System a system of injustice for black people in America? The introduce of camera phones, video surveillance, and the internet made it possible for the world to see what is happening in an ordinary person’s daily life. There are people who have become famous and garnered wealth solely from the use of these technologies. These technologies have also allowed the world to witness some of the horrors black people experience on a daily. Many people believed with these atrocities being caught on video black people would receive some form of justice. Are the scales of justice being tipped and is being tipped against the interest of black people?

The most recent event of injustice is the case involving the death of Anthony Lamar Smith. Mr. Smith was murdered by a police officer, the officer was heard on tape stating he was going to kill Mr. Smith during the car chase to apprehend Mr. Smith, after shooting Mr. Smith five times the officer is seen on videotape retrieving an object from his police car and returning to the victim’s car. Afterward the officer states he found a weapon in the car but the weapon did not have any DNA of the victim, the weapon only had the officer’s DNA. The officer did not follow police protocol throughout the whole ordeal, but the officer was still acquitted with all the video and voice recorded evidence proving this was a premeditated murder.

There are been several examples like this incident, too many to name, we constantly listen to politicians, religious leaders, and community leaders who tell the public be patient, believe in the justice system, and pray. So far no of these things have been fruitful and the justice system has been the biggest letdown. We have seen so many of our innocent people go to jail on less or fabricated evidence, so how can visual proof go ignored.

I do not have the answer to any questions that arise from this subject but I know nothing is fair in love and war. If you ask me we are at war. We must understand justice will not come from a system of injustice.

The Obama Effect: Race in America

With the election of Barack Obama, it was thought that America has made advances on race but are we absolutely sure that country has made advances? Has the election of Obama created more hate groups or White Supremacist Groups? Has the election of Obama created more racial tension in America? I ask these question because after the events that have taken place in Charlottesville Virginia this weekend it seems like there have not been any advancements. As many have stated in was reminiscent of the 60’s.

Obama won the popular vote during each election based on these results this meant that the majority of the country saw past race and voted for whom they believed was the best candidate. The election of Obama was a historical event, I think many people thought this was a huge advancement in race relations in this country but it seems that a small of a fraction of the country was not pleased by this. I do not have statistical data or historical data to back my opinion but it appears to me that the racial tension has escalated with the election of Obama. The killings of unarmed black people seem to have increased but one can argue these killings have always taken place and the introduction of social media has just made us more aware of these incidents. It seems the number of hate groups, Neo-Nazi, White Supremacist and Alt-Right organization have increased or have become more visible since Obama’s election. The election of Donald Trump has also fueled many of these groups, they believe they have an ally in Trump. Trump cabinets would suggest that they do have an ally, his remarks regarding the tragedy in Charlottesville suggest they have an ally. Regardless of who is aligned with whom we must be prepared for whatever is coming.

We all thought the election of Barack Obama meant the pendulum of racism had swung to the side of righteous, equality, and love of all mankind now it seems that the pendulum has swung back to the side of evil, hate, and inhumane thinking. Will the pendulum swing back or are we stuck in evil and hate? If we are stuck will this be the end of America?
